Charlotte and Philippe Hedeman-Gueniau founded RICE in 1998. The company started out as a small family business and has since turned into an internationally recognized design brand. It is important to RICE to be socially responsible and to conduct business with an ethical approach. They started out by selling products produced in Thailand and Madagascar from their home in Denmark. Today they are located in Odense, Denmark and have suppliers in Thailand, India, China, Madagascar, Taiwan, Portugal and Italy. It is very important to the couple to make sure all of their merchandise is produced with high regards to human rights and local labor laws.
RICE is most known for their colorful melamine products, but also for their handmade baskets and storage items, plus their hand painted tableware. Their mission is to spread “fun, funkiness, and colorful functionality” across Europe and the rest of the world. All of the products are designed in Denmark and produced in third world countries, which is why it is very important to RICE that its suppliers have strong ethical and social standards. All of their melamine products are DVFA approved and tested food safe.
We love the beautiful RICE colors and think that especially for families with small children, RICE is an absolute must have. Safe, durable and bold colored products, which not only the young, but also the young-at-heart can enjoy. RICE up your life!
